Barb and I found time to go fishing for a while and we tried to find some deep crappie on the south end of the lake. We fished the deep points with tube jigs to catch 3 fish and only 2 were keepers. The fish we caught came about 12 to 15 ft. deep on wood. The water was very clear 36 degrees and about a ft. under summer pool. The boat ramps were good and there was just a little ice in the backs of the coves. We did see 1 Bald Eagle and a pair of Swans. All and all it was just nice to get out there and try.

Last time I told you how to put new line on the reel without line twist. I know we all have had our lines twist after we have fished with it for a while. There are 3 things that cause your line to twist. One is on the cast some lures in the air will twist your line, another is on the retrieve some lures also twist your line , but a lot of our twist comes when your fighting fish or snagged and you are reeling when the drag is slipping. Anytime you hear your drag you should not continue to reel, that will really put a lot of twist in your line. When your lines become twisted there are 2 easy ways to take the twist out. If your on the water with a boat take everything off your line and while your boat is on the move feed the line out behind you and let it drag for a ways, then hold tension on the line and reel it back on and the twist will be gone. This will also help take the memory out of your line if it has been a while since you used it. If you are on the bank and you want to take the twist out , hook your line to something and walk all the line off your reel and take it loose from the reel and let it lay. Now walk to the other end and tie it to the reel and hold tension to the line and reel it back on your reel and the twist will be gone.
