5-3-2009 Lake Shelbyville IL
Fished for crappie today for 4 hrs had 15 shorts and 22 over 10 nothing over 12 in. All our fish today were caught in 1 to 5 foot of water in the coves on wood structure. We are still using the 1/4 oz tubes and twisters. We had some females today that were spawning.

I will be fishing at Shelbyville on Thursday. What area of the lake is the best right now! I’m picking up my niece from Eastern in the morning and wondering where to launch and fish. Would like to fish both Crappie and Bass. Thanks in advance!
Dave,
The south end is where we are fishing for the most part. The water is in good condition and clear. The dam west area is where we put in, but all ramps are ok. The lake is only 3 foot over summer pool. The last fishing report is what we are doing.
Good Luck

Anyway, fished way up Sand Creek on Friday (5/30) and caught a mixed bag of fish. Crappie, largemouth and a lot of white bass. We got at least a half mile up past the bridge and had a great time. Could have gone farther up if we wanted to. We spider rigged long poles with a jig/minnow and let the baits pass just on the outside edge of the flooded willows and zig-zgged over the creek channel break. Lots of fish but no big crappie. Most crappie were black males in the 9-10 inch range. Still a lot of fun! Ran into some busting white bass around 7PM and caught fish on almost every cast for awhile. It’s a lot harder to fish this lake when its flooded, but it’s also fun fishing water that usually isn’t there. You can find the fish on the lake when its flooded, it just takes a little more work.
Fred, I emailed you about posting new posts, please check and get back to me when you can. Thanks!!
